Welcome to the classical and contemporary poetry website. Here you will find poems written by historical poets or by the administrator of this site, Alan Steinle.
This site contains poems in the classical tradition. That is, the poems contain meter and/or rhyme, and some of the poems adhere to a prescribed form, such as the sonnet, the rondeau, the villanelle, or the limerick.
Besides my own poems, you will also find poems from historical poets. These famous or forgotten poets can be found in their respective literary periods on this page. These poets are in the public domain worldwide since they died at least 100 years ago.
I also like to translate traditional poetry, especially from the Spanish. You can download a PDF of many of my Spanish translations from this page.
