When Joseph was a growing lad,
he dreamed he was his brothers’ king.
These dreams just made his brothers mad,
and they could not help envying
the apple of their father’s eye.
They hated him, but Judah said,
“Let’s sell him to those passersby.”
His father mourned for him as dead.
If God had favorites, we could say
that He’s not fair and justify
our hatred for the puzzling way
some fall to earth while some fly high.
But God is like the shining sun:
His love’s enough for everyone.
